Calendula flowers blooming in abundance. We pick a Calendula flowers blooming in abundance. We pick a round of flowers daily, some we dry for future teas and topical skin washes. We’ll wilt some (less water means less likelihood of mold) and infuse in oils, in part to make into cream. We’ll infuse some in alcohol for tincture. And, eat some in salads. Some will escape us and go to seed, falling to the ground to start we plants in the same spot next year. #calendula #edibleflower #medicine #herbalmedicine #naturalskincare

We made the hard decision that we wouldn't offer t We made the hard decision that we wouldn't offer the Sacred Gardener School this year. We postponed in hopes that it might look like a viable, possible thing once that time came, but once it did, it didn't. So, we've set dates for next year, in hopes we'll all be able to gather then. We are profoundly grateful that many of those who had committed to come this year, have also committed to come next year. Harvesting basil to make pesto, first round. We ha Harvesting basil to make pesto, first round. We harvest the tops, blend with some garlic from last year’s crop, toasted sunflower seeds, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, lemon juice and salt. We put it in 250ml jars with a layer of olive oil on top to seal it, which prevents mold growing on the pesto that we’ll keep in the fridge. This vinegar becomes the secret ingredient in our salad dressings, sauces, dips, soups, stir fries.. everything.
