Harvesting the celery from the garden and storing Harvesting the celery from the garden and storing the last of the stalks in the fridge. They’re popular with our kids, so will be eaten soon. The leaves we decided to make into an herbal salt. Since they’re fibrous, we pre-chopped the leaves, then ground them up in the food processor. Measured them, and then measured an equal amount of sea salt. In this case, we ended up with 8 cups of each. Blended them well together, then laid them out in a cookie sheet and left it on the lowest heat with the stove door cracked to dry, stirring it occasionally to prevent it from drying into one hard cake. We decided to just try the celery on it’s own, and make some other salts on their own and mix and match to play with flavours and seasonings. For soups, meat rubs, salad dressings, dips. Anything really. Thanks to a visit from our old buddy @lamykel we n Thanks to a visit from our old buddy @lamykel we now have a small jar of ready to eat black walnuts. She brought along a serious business of a nutcracker, they’d already had their thick hull taken off earlier. This kind of activity can be a meditative process, and a good thing to do with others or while listening to something. If you’re intensely goal oriented, this will frustrate you to no end.
